Accounting Practising Rights In Zimbabwe

Within the accounting profession there are no restrictions on foreign accountants wishing to work (be employed) in Zimbabwe. However, a work permit from the Government is required. Similarly, there are no restrictions on foreign accountants providing accountancy services to the public.

Accountants may not register as Public Accountants unless they are members of a constituent body of the Zimbabwean Public Accountants and Auditors Board. The constituent bodies are -

• the Zimbabwe Branch of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants,
• the Zimbabwe Branch of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants,
• the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe,
• the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Zimbabwe,
• the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Finance and Administration.

Registered members of constituent bodies providing services direct to the public are required to
hold practising certificates issued by the Board.
